Where Tazewell Records Live

Tazewell County Sheriff's Office and Tazewell County Justice Center
101 S. Capitol Street, Pekin, Illinois 61554
Sheriff main line: (309) 477-2250
Jail Information: (309) 477-2253
Dispatch: (309) 346-4141

The official contact page identifies Sheriff Jeffrey Lower. Use the Jail Information line for a routine custody question, the sheriff contact page for agency contacts, and the sheriff FOIA page for an existing booking record or photograph. Dispatch is a separate operational line and is not a substitute for a records request.

The sheriff's FOIA intake has an online path and an in-person option through the Civil Process Department, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Capitol Street address. The page separates Reports, Video, and Jail-Related requests and says the FOIA officer responds within five business days, subject to a lawful extension under Illinois FOIA. Electronic delivery is the normal route. No separate mugshot fee is stated; physical copies over 50 pages and non-digital media may create charges, so ask for an estimate before choosing a format. Illinois 5 ILCS 140/3 and 5 ILCS 140/6 govern written requests, response timing, electronic format, and copy charges.

For a narrow request, name the person, approximate booking date, detainee ID if known, arresting agency, and the existing record or photograph sought. A request for a photo does not guarantee that one exists or that it can be released. Illinois 5 ILCS 160/4a addresses arrest records and photographs, but it does not require the sheriff to publish an online gallery.

Use the official custody table for the county's public lookup. It shows BookDate, BookTime, DetaineeID, name fields, age, race, sex, charge, and agency. No photo column was visible in the reviewed table, and no update cadence was stated. A released person may no longer appear in a live custody view even though an existing booking record remains a records question.

Choose the route below according to the question being asked:

  • Booking record or photograph: start with the sheriff's custody table for current county custody, then use the sheriff FOIA page for a particular existing record or photo. The sheriff may refer a city-held record to the municipal department.
  • Active warrant: use the sheriff's separate warrant table or the Most Wanted guide. A warrant row shows a wanted or warrant-listed status, not a booking or conviction.
  • Recent arrest: the custody table is the closest official public booking surface. Tazewell has no separate verified same-day arrest feed. The sheriff's press-release page is event-driven and is not a complete arrest log.
  • Facility question: use the sheriff's Jail Information and Jail/Inmate Info pages for the Tazewell County Justice Center. Official pages use TCJC and Tazewell County Jail for the same county facility.
  • Release alerts: the official Tazewell County Sheriff (IL) app links to Android and iOS and supports inmate and warrant search, tips, push notifications, social/news, events, and sex-offender search. It does not promise a photo for every result or an alert for every booking. For state custody changes, use Illinois DOC VINE services.
  • Sentenced Illinois prisoner: search the Illinois Department of Corrections offender locator by last name, IDOC number, and birthdate. IDOC custody is different from a Tazewell County jail booking, and a public result does not guarantee a loaded photo.
  • Federal or immigration custody: the Bureau of Prisons locator covers federal inmates incarcerated from 1982 forward, with name or register-number searches and no routine public booking-photo gallery. The ICE locator requires an exact A-number and country of birth, or exact name, country of birth, and birth date; it may omit or delay records and shows no public mugshot. U.S. Marshals federal pretrial prisoners may be housed at TCJC under the Justice Center agreement, but USMS generally does not release federal booking photos.

Municipal records: Pekin Police lists 111 S. Capitol Street, (309) 478-5330, and administration hours Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Its JustFOIA portal is the starting point for an existing city record. The department has no verified public arrest blotter or mugshot feed.

East Peoria Police lists the station at 500 W. Camp Street and (309) 698-4700. Its Police FOIA form and city FOIA instructions accept written requests by hand, mail, fax, or email, generally with a five-working-day response. The first 50 regular copies are free and later pages are 15 cents each. Crash-report fees are separate and should not be applied to a booking photograph. The police-station lobby is the place the city identifies for report-copy questions.

Morton Police lists 375 W. Birchwood Street, (309) 266-6666, and records hours Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Sunday closed, with holiday closures. The Morton FOIA page provides the village request route and asks for the date, time, and specific existing record description. No municipal mugshot roster was verified.

For what happened after booking, use the Tazewell County Circuit Clerk online records portal for case history, hearings, balances, and related information. Remote access can be more limited than a courthouse file. The clerk's office is at 342 Court Street, Pekin, Illinois 61554. Its copy-request schedule lists $2 for the first page, $0.50 for pages 2 through 20, and $0.25 for later pages, with possible certification or automated-media charges. Fees can change, so confirm the current schedule before sending payment.

For sealing or expungement, the Circuit Clerk's official information page describes a new miscellaneous-record case and currently lists a $144 filing amount. 20 ILCS 2630/5.2 controls eligibility and agency action, so not every arrest qualifies and a court order does not automatically remove an independent third-party copy. Illinois 815 ILCS 505/2QQQ addresses payment and correction practices for criminal-record information. Never pay an intermediary that promises a guaranteed deletion.
